Once, a significant part of Europe was covered by forest – a single ecosystem that had formed long betore human intervention. But as a result of centuries of economic activity, almost no remnants of that primeval forest remain today.
Białowieża Forest is the largest and best-preserved semi-natural ancient forest – the last remnant of the primeval lowland forest that covered Europe 10,000 years ago.
This project tells the story of this unique landscape and, through a specific location, explores what nature is capable of when human interference is removed.
