Wüste
Wüste
Lieberoser Wüste, a desert disfigured by military training on the site of what was once a dense pine forest, is a clear example of what an irrational attitude toward nature can lead to and illustrates the kind of appearance our planet may acquire if humanity does not change its attitude toward the environment.
Under the pressure of heavy equipment, the land gradually degraded until it reached its current state, turning this area into a true desert covered with sand. The restoration of natural cycles will take an unknown amount of time. But the moss carpet, which forms due to dew, creates a conducive environment for seeds to germinate and can be likened to a cradle for seeds, nurturing the potential for future forest growth in these areas.
Photographs in this project, reduced to the scale of the relationship between the image and the viewer, reflect humanity's relationship with nature. Abstract at first glance, the images acquire tangible outlines upon closer examination. When a person sees the whole picture, they understand their direct relationship to what is depicted in the photograph.
